Today, June 16, a special summer night concert will take place at the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Andris Nelsons. For the first time there will be performed a Latvian music, the composition TANGO for symphony orchestra by composer Arturs Maskats.

Musica Baltica Publishes Roberts Liede’s Collection of Pieces for Choir ( 12/04/2022 )

In partnership with the Latvian Composers’ Union, publisher Musica Baltica has released Pieces for Choir, a collection of works by Roberts Liede. Previously published works of Liede (1967-2006) include the collections Songs for Children, Songs for Voice and Piano, and Pieces for Piano. Now joining them is Pieces for Choir, a collection which includes songs for women’s, men’s and mixed choir. The collection has been published with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation.

The choir The Purcell Singers invite to the concert Songs of the Baltic See on saturday 2nd april 2022, 7:30PM St. George’s Cathedral, Southwark. The choir will perform also the song Only in Sleep by Ēriks Ešenvalds.

Pēteris Plakidis. Songs for Mixed Choir. ( 06/01/2022 )

In honour of the memory of Pēteris Plakidis, publisher Musica Baltica is releasing a collection of his songs for choir: Songs for Mixed Choir. The collection includes both works which have been published previously as well as works published for the first time, including Legend, his one-part cantata; his little-known Two Chants From The Old Testament; his arrangement of the Latvian folk song Smoke Beyond the Hill; his songs In the Dawn Hour, Song of Bread, The Kurzeme Coast, the Vidzeme Coast and Lifetime Landscape; as well as Scythe in the Apple Tree (Anno 1944), a miniature which was found among the composer's early manuscripts after his death, and which was probably not performed due to the content of the poem used.

The collection is enriched by a foreword written by Mārīte Dombrovska, and all information is available in two languages: Latvian and English.

Shaping Sounds and Values: Multipart Music as a Means of Social and Cultural Interaction, edited by Ardian Ahmedaja. The book (hardcover) and the included CD-ROM with 27 audiovisual examples are published by Musica Baltica in collaboration with the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

CD album and book: The Songs of Elgers. 17th century Latvian sacred music ( 17/12/2021 )

Musica Baltica, in collaboration with the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation, has released a new publication: Songs of Elgers. 17th Century Latvian Sacred Music, a CD album and book, which offers Latvian and international audiences a piece of unique Latvian music history which has been undiscovered until now.

New book for piano! ( 07/12/2021 )

We are pleased to announce that Three Variations on the Themes of Latvian Folk Songs, composer Gundega Šmite’s collection of variations for piano, has been published. Each variation cycle is based on a Latvian folk song: Kas dimd?(What is Rumbling?), Rīga dimd (Riga Rings) and Sidrabiņa lietiņš lija (Silver Rain Fell).

Music publish Musica Baltica has begun a partnership with composer Kārlis Lācis, who has proven himself not just in classical music, but also in music for theatre, cinema, jazz, pop and other fields.
